Declaration deadlines

The 9th of every month.

The first results are published approximately 20 days after the end of the reference month. The quality of the statistic depends on the prompt reporting from all industries.

Which data should I declare?

You declare your monthly turnover – either including or excluding VAT. Some companies have to distribute their turnover into “Food and other groceries”, “Clothing and footwear” and “Other consumables”. All companies must declare the share of the total turnover sold via e-commerce (e-retail).

The numbers of companies with declaration requirement

Approximately 2.000 retail companies are required to declare monthly, every year.

How are the companies chosen?

The population is selected once a year based on the industry and turnover data:

  • Yearly turnover over 20 million DKK: Everyone is required to declare.
  • Yearly turnover 2.5 – 20 million DKK: Representative sample covering all sub-industries in retail. All of the largest companies in each sub-industry are required to declare.
  • Yearly turnover under 2.5 million DKK: Companies in ”narrow industries” can be required to declare. All of the largest companies in every sub-industry are required to declare.

Typical time spent per declaration is approx. 5-10 minutes.

Companies can voluntarily state the time spent in the declaration solution. Companies typically spend approx. 5-10 minutes on a declaration – including access, provision of information, data entry and possible support.
