User access

Statistics are always published at 8:00 a.m. at the day announced in the release calendar. No one outside of Statistics Denmark can access the statistics before they are published.

News release

The statistics are published in: News from Statistics Denmark.

Publications

The statistics have been published in the publication Kriminalitet (Criminality) which was published for the last time for the reference year 2023.

On-line database

The statistics are published in the StatBank under the subject Birth cohort crime rates in the following tables:

• STRAFFO1: Birth cohorts (per 31. December 2024) by unit, year of birth, sex, age by first conviction, offence and time
• STRAFFO2: Birth cohorts (per 31. December 2024) by unit, year of birth, sex, age by first custodial sentences, custodial sentences and time
• STRAFFO3: Convictions (per 31. December 2024 by birth cohort by unit, year of birth, sex, age at time of conviction, offence and time
• STRAFFO4: Imprisonments (per 31. December 2024) by unit, year of birth, sex, custodial sentences, age at time of conviction and time

Micro-data access

Data on birth cohort crime are kept as ready-made files containing basic information at individual level. Taylormade statistics can be prepared on bases of the ready-made files. Through Denmark's Data Portal it is possible for researchers to be granted access to anonymised data, i.e., data for which all identification details such as ID numbers have been removed.

Confidentiality - policy

Data Confidentiality Policy for Statistics Denmark is applied.

Confidentiality - data treatment

The published statistics on Birth Cohort Crime is distributed by no other characteristics than year of birth, sex and age. This ensures that convicted persons not can be related to individuals.
