An 21-months EU Twinning project started in November 2011 when Resident Twinning Adviser Irina Bernstein took office in the State Statistical Service of Ukraine (SSSU). The project was funded by the European Union with a total budget of 1 million Euros.
The project aimed at providing assistance to the Ukrainian's ongoing strengthening institutional potential or collection, processing and dissemination of statistical data, better harmonisation of statistical methodology and techniques with European standards.
The main goal of the project was to harmonize the national methodology with EU standards in selected areas of statistics (tourism, national accounts, salaries and wages, capital investment, foreign direct investment, consumer price index, industrial production, business register, structural business statistics), to update the dissemination database and marketing of statistical data, to launch the monitoring of administrative response burden and to improve the SSSU human resource management.
Statistics Denmark involved more than 30 leading experts from partner institutions such as Statistics Finland, Statistics Sweden, INE of Spain, Statistics Lithuania, Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia and the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic to implement this project.
