The purpose of this experimental statistic is to measure the development in rent for commercial leases. The statistic is a stand-alone statistic for the area and has been published since 2023, with figures from 2021 onwards.

Statistical processing
The rent index is based on a sample of leased commercial properties for which rent has been recorded between two consecutive quarters. Commercial properties are covered by a sample of approximately 102,000 leases.

Relevance
The statistics is primary used as a business cycle indicator by the European Systemic Risk Board and the European Central Bank. Other uses of the statistics is to shed light on developments of rent in the rental market for commercial real estate.
Accuracy and reliability
It is not possible to quantify the uncertainty in the commercial real estate rent index, as the sample on which it is based was not drawn using simple random sampling.
Rent data is collected on the first day of the first month of the reference quarter, which means that any rent changes occurring later in the quarter are not captured in the survey. This introduces an additional degree of uncertainty that also cannot be quantified.

Timeliness and punctuality
The statistic is published on the 15th or the first working day thereafter, in the first month after the quarter. Only final indices are published.

Comparability
The calculation is based on a uniform basis since 2021. The statistics is not necessary comparable with other statistics that cover the same population due to differences in calculation method.
Accessibility and clarity
The statistics are published in StatBank Denmark under the topic property and rent indices.
