Introduction

CONCERNING STATISTICS ON EARNINGS AND LABOUR COSTS

The statistics on earnings and labour costs compiled by Statistics Denmark play an important part with regard to collective bargaining, the issue of equal pay, various contractual adjustments and general analyses of pay conditions, both nationally and internationally. Consequently, political and economic attention is widely attached to the statistics on earnings and labour costs at social as well as business level.

The statistics on earnings and labour costs compiled by Statistics Denmark constitutes an integrated statistical system comprising one structure of earnings for the entire labour market, four indices of average earnings for respectively the private, central government, local government and regional sectors and a statistic on total labour costs of private enterprises.

The statistics on earnings and labour costs show each in their own way the conditions of earnings and labour costs in the Danish labour market.
