Definition
Here is a concise English translation that preserves all information:
The indicator is calculated by the Ministry of Justice’s Research Unit. The number of women reporting sexual violence within the past 12 months is expressed as a percentage of all women. Due to few incidents, results are presented as aggregated shares. The indicator differs from the UN definition, as it includes women aged 16–74 at the time of interview (16–79 in 2023–2024), which may not match their age at the time of the incident. The UN includes women aged 15+. The indicator content has also changed over time:
• 2008–2018: Includes only women exposed to rape/attempted rape, defined as being forced or threatened with force into intercourse within the past 12 months.
• From 2019: Also includes other sexual offences, such as indecent exposure, forced intimate touching (self or others), oral sex, or sharing/threatening to share sexual messages, images, or videos, or being coerced into sharing such material, against one’s will within the past 12 months.
• From 2021: The definition of rape/attempted rape was revised following the consent law: intercourse or attempted intercourse without consent.
Due to these changes, figures are generally not directly comparable over time and differ from UN definitions.
Place of violence:
The table shows only the distribution of incident locations for women exposed within the past 12 months to rape/attempted rape by someone other than a current or former partner.
All above notes on age limits, revised definitions, comparability, and aggregation also apply to this table.
