As regards course activity at general and preparatory adult education, adult vocational programmes (in Danish AMU) and vocational colleges the Ministry of Education is responsible for data collection. The Ministry of Immigration and Integration is in charge of the data collection concerning Danish language courses for foreigners.

Adult education and continuing training

The purpose of the statistics is to provide a picture of the people's participation in courses and adult education i.e. formal courses which are financed, planned and controlled by a public provider.
The data collection on course activities has stated at different times for the different course types, and the first ones are registered from 1970's.

Adult Education Survey (AES)

The purpose of Adult Education Survey is to give a description of the adult populations participation in life long learning. The survey has been carried out in all EU-countries after the same guidelines. This makes the Adult Education Survey the best Danish survey for international comparisons on participation in the life long learning.

Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS)

The purpose of the CVTS survey has been to create a comparable European statistics on Continual Vocational Training and education of the employees in enterprises. The statistic constitutes a part of the strategic goal of long life learning., which is a central feature in EU's strategy to increase the competitiveness of European enterprises hen hence the economic growth.
