A cooperation between Statistics Denmark and Ghana Statistical Service aims at strengthening official statistics in Ghana. Therefore, Statistics Denmark follows the Housing and Population Census going on this year in the country. It is the first time ever that Ghana conducts a digitalized survey based Housing and Population Census and the first country to do so in West Africa.

A total of 75.000 enumerators have now completed the data collection for the census and the immense work around data cleaning, processing, analysis and publication has begun.

The next ambition is to strengthen the use of administrative data in the country. This will make it less expensive and labour intensive to conduct the next decennial census and ensure access to timely and accurate statistics for politicians and civilians alike.

Statistics Denmark is supporting this process and Ghana’s journey towards a modernized statistical infrastructure.
