The statistics contribute to the overall picture of what happens in the environmental field and is a part of the environmental accounts. First results covers 2012., Statistical presentation, Environmental goods and services (EGSS) is products with specific environmental or resource saving purposes (e.g. waste water management or production of windmills) as general products cleaner and/or more resource efficient than similar types. Freezers with low energy consumption and construction of low energy houses are examples. The statistics is part of the the Environmental-Economic Accounts for Denmark., The statistics are designed to show results by 16 environmental and resource saving purposes and by type of industry. The activities are categorized in: Environmental specific services, connected goods and services and cleaner and resource efficient products., Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, The data collection 2023 is based on a stratified sample of 1.700 business units out of in total 3,600 units with 10 employees or more in the relevant types of industries, In the complete statistics also estimates for smaller business units and compiled results from existing sources are included., Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The data users are mainly public authorities working with environment, resources and business activities and international goals in these areas, including the SDG's from 2015. Associations in the same fields are interested as well. The level of satisfaction has not yet been measured., Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, There are several sources of errors, which are considered to induce uncertainty to the results for environmental goods and service. In particular, this is due to the level of clarity of definitions on EGSS. This size of this problem has been reduced by very intensive validation of data., Errors exist mainly in the special surveyed data. In particular the result regarding firms with less than 10 employees have significant errors due to estimation methods., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, First data release about 11 month after end of reference year. , Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The statistics exist for 2012 to 2023. Results for these years can be compared, taken in consideration that results 2012-2014 on construction and knowledge service most probably were underestimated., In principle the results for Denmark can be compared with results from other EU-countries, but different compiling methods may affect the conclusions., Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, The main variables are published in Statistical News and in the http://www.statbank.dk., For a broader description, publications was produced in 2015., It is possible to link data on EGSS with data on in example research, education and salaries., More information can be found under the subject: , Environmental-economic accounts, ., Read more about accessibility and clarity

Not all data are fully comparable across the two years due to changes in data sources and introduction of new methods., Statistical presentation, The accounts present information about flows of natural resources, goods and residuals (waste and emissions to air, etc.) measured as tonnes per year. The accounts include all type of materials, which are used or supplied. , The flows are recorded by industries and other categories, e.g. extraction from nature, imports, exports, private and government consumption, emissions to the environment, etc. , The accounts are balanced, which means that the quantity of materials used by an industry equals the quantity of materials, that leaves the industry as sold products and residuals. , Read more about statistical presentation, Statistical processing, The accounts are based on several sources, for instance, International Trade in Goods, Purchases by Manufacturing Industries, National accounts, and Environmental-Economic Accounts supplemented by data from e.g. the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and websites and organizations and companies., The primary data are processed and supplemented by estimations and allocations, after which they are organised in a so-called physical supply-use table. Finally, this table is adjusted in such a way that supply equals use., Read more about statistical processing, Relevance, The accounts are of relevance to all, who are interested in information about those physical material flows that take place in relation to the Danish economy. It can be used as a basis for analysis of the circular economy, e.g. for analysis of which industries that use or produce certain types of materials. , Read more about relevance, Accuracy and reliability, In general it can be assumed that there are less uncertainties associated with data obtained directly from primary statistics, while data that results from estimations and allocations will be associated with more uncertainties. , The balancing item, which is represented in the accounts, is to some extent a result of inaccuracies related to other items in the accounts. However, it cannot directly be used as a measure of the uncertainties, since it may also reflect other special relations., No estimations of the magnitude of the uncertainties have been made. , Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, The accounts for 2020 have been published 4 years and three months after the end of the reference year (2020). The accounts are published without delay compared to the announced time of publication in the release calendar., Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The accounts are available for 2020 and 2018, and in an earlier version for 2016. The versions are not fully comparable due to changes in source data and methods. , This type of accounts is - as far as we know - only available for the Denmark and the Netherlands, but with different classifications. Thus, it is not possible to make direct international comparisons. , For certain items it is possible to compare over time and with other countries by looking at the primary data that lie behind the accounts., Read more about comparability, Accessibility and clarity, These statistics are published in the StatBank under the subject , Detailed material flow accounts, . However, there may be uncertainty in the composition of different data components, as they do not always follow the same groupings. Payments on account may result in minor accrual shifts in natural gas prices. In addition, distribution costs may be difficult to calculate precisely in relation to the actual average deliveries to customers. The statistics are based on certain model assumptions, including the behavior of companies eligible for reimbursement and households' use of electric heating. Overall, however, the uncertainty is assessed to be low, and any errors or deviations are corrected on an ongoing basis., Read more about accuracy and reliability, Timeliness and punctuality, The results have to be compiled three month after end of reference period, i.e. end of March and end of September, respectively, Read more about timeliness and punctuality, Comparability, The results are fully comparable over time from 2015 and onwards.
