3.8.2

Proportion of population with large household expenditures on health as a share of total household expenditure or income

Definition

The UN defines 'large expenditure'  as minimum 40 per cent of the average total expenditure.

Denmark does not compile continuous and official statistics in accordance with the methodology of the indicator. However, Statistics Denmark estimates - on the basis of the National Household Budget Survey - that few people, if any, pay more than 20 per cent of their household expenses or income on health care services. According to data from the 2015-2024 National Household Budget Survey, the share of expenditure on health related services and products is 2-3 per cent of the total household budget on average.
