What is your data used for?
Here, producers report sales prices of goods sold at the first stage of trade by Danish companies on the domestic and export markets, as well as the purchase prices of imported goods by Danish importers. Your reporting is necessary to shed light on price developments for goods at the first stage of trade. For this purpose, a price index is calculated. The statistics are used for the national accounts, among other things, for constant price calculations. They also function as an economic indicator and are used for contract adjustments in the business sector. See "Latest news from the statistic" at the bottom of the page.

- Producers report actual sales prices of goods sold at the first stage of trade by Danish companies on the domestic and export markets, excluding VAT and excise duties.
- Importers report actual purchase prices of goods imported into Denmark, excluding taxes and duties.
As far as possible, report the price as of the 15th of the month. If no price information is available for the 15th, an appropriate date earlier in the month or an average of the prices from the first 15 days of the month can be used. For industries or goods with high variability during the month, an average for the entire month is requested instead.
Typical time required per report is approximately 5 minutes

Reporting is mandatory by law
EU legislation requires Denmark to produce several business-related statistics.
The Act on Statistics Denmark, section 8-12a obliges companies to report information for statistical purposes.
Number of companies with reporting obligations
Statistics Denmark requests approximately 1,600 companies to provide mandatory monthly reports for this statistic each year.
How are companies selected?
The sample of approximately 6,800 prices is distributed across roughly 1,100 product groups. These groups are selected to cover at least 70% of the total turnover value of the Danish goods economy. Within each product group, the largest companies (top-down) are selected based on turnover value. This ensures that prices from key price setters are collected, providing a representative sample for the entire product group.
Companies typically spend about 5 minutes per report, including access, retrieval of information, data entry, and potential support. Based on the median time per report, the total time spent by the business sector is estimated at 1,462 hours annually.
